It is a collaborative study with the Maruyama Lab at the Cancer Research Institute and the Ayrault Lab at the Curie Institute.

Preview was written by Prof. Silvia Marino, who is a researcher in cerebellar development and medulloblastoma.

We continue to work on elucidating the phenomena and mechanisms that trigger epigenomic changes in SHH-type medulloblastoma. We are also looking for members who are interested in this research topic and willing to join our team. Please see our recruitment.

Dr. Owen Shojiro Chapman from the Lukas Chavez Lab at UCSD has joined our medulloblastoma research. He will be responsible for and strengthening the field of cancer bioinformatics.

The Institute of Neuroscience hosted the “Brain Fest.” We were greatly inspired by the many young students from diverse universities and research backgrounds who participated. Although we were unable to offer lab tours this time due to our ongoing relocation, we aim to prepare thoroughly for the next event to give everyone a deeper insight into our brain tumor research. The 74th Brain Medical and Biological Research Meeting was held jointly with the 3rd Young KYOUEN of the Japanese Society for Neurochemistry, chaired by Prof. Kazunobu Sawamoto, Director of the Institute of Neuroscience. Professor Kawauchi delivered an invited lecture on ‘Understanding the Mechanisms of Pediatric Brain Tumor Formation Based on (Epi)genomic Abnormalities and Exploring Novel Therapies. The Kawauchi group participated in the fundraising activities of the German Brain Tumor Research Foundation’s ‘Ein KIWI gegen Krebs‘ by taking a team photo from Japan. This initiative aims to unite teams globally to combat pediatric cancer.
